Is there any reason I should’nt use used form lumber in a frame carpentry project
I dont want to buy the lumber for a small project or at least not the 2x material. I see used form lumber all over the place with a thin coat of concrete on it. But I’m going to cover everything with plywood anyways. I know that concrete is very caustic to the skin perhaps it’ll destroy the integrity of the lumber
You will have no problem at all. I’ve done it before and my dad is the worlds most avid lumber recycler around. He hates to see wood wasted when it can be used again. He has done so for manymany years with no problem. He has used wood just like you are describing. As for the cement most of it will come right off with a couple of hammer blows and any residue will never be noticed.
Just remember if the wood is going to be exposed to any weather make sure that is is either treated wood for exterior usage or paint and coat it thoroughly. If it is going to come in to direct contact with the ground it must be treated to avoid rot and decay.

You never cease to amaze me! This is an incredible story! You and Rod are going to have your hands full, but since you are both seasoned professionals in the home renovation business . . . its going to be awesome! I can't wait to see the updates. While I can't wrap my mind around someone walking out of a house and never looking back, I do think the haphazardly parked truck was a hoot. The neighbors will love you forever!

Kim, thanks for visiting, you have an inspiring list! I'll stop by your blog again.
Kate, in reall life, with a windfall like that I'd definitely pay down the mortgage, although I would also complete some of the more pressing home maintenance. Good call!
Taylor, I hear ya about real estate. I don't think I could afford to buy my home if I were in the market today.
Good luck finding a place in MA.
McCainPalin — You know, what really bothers me about the Republican Party these days is how mean spirited they are. In the past I have voted for a Republican now and then, but not this year.

In my younger years, travel was definitely a major priority for me (even though personal finance was not!), and I even spent a year living in the Czech Republic and traveling extensively, because I wanted more than the typical vacation experience.

I am going to assume that this is a property owned by one of the large national lenders. That being the case, understand that the department which prices such properties rarely communicates with the department which receives offers on same. Most of the time, these departments are not even in the same city.
I've encountered a few over the years on which the price of the property was reduced AFTER an offer for more money was accepted. Sadly, Joe and Jane don't always communicate the way they should.
The pricing department has guidelines to follow. After a certain time period elapses without a successful sale, the price is automatically reduced. That there is a good offer on the table in a different department does not seem to matter.

Im not sure if chihuahua is a good idea..
Since your away from home a lot, I would not recommend Danes and Labs either..they demand a lot attention.
I think Dachshunds are good stay home alone breed, they are definitely low maintainance, but they sometimes have health complications…but are really good companions.
