Outdoor Fashion Must-Haves: What Your Home Exterior Should Have

Posted by | Filed under Home Improvement | Mar 11, 2011 | 9 Comments

Whether you plan to sell your property or not, improving your home exterior is very important. If you want to close a deal, a well-maintained lawn will attract buyers and ensure sales faster. But even if you do not intend to sell the property, a clean and inviting garden will give yourself a good impression to your neighbors. Fortunately, some quick remodeling ideas and a few exterior fashion homewares should be enough to do the trick. Here are some home exterior must-haves.

Well-painted walls. One of the least expensive ways to change the exterior look of your home is by repainting. Before picking a paint color, consider the general theme of the house, the landscape, and the common style in your neighborhood. Lifestyle fashion experts say that the bigger a house is, the more sedate the paint color should be. Bold colors, on the other hand, can be used to accentuate some parts of the house like the front door.

A sturdy siding. Homes that have wooden sidings may want to be upgraded to a more modern composite siding. The latter is specifically designed to last for as long as 50 years. It can offer bigger insulation capabilities as compared to wood sidings. Fiber cement sidings are also not prone to insect infestations as well as mold and mildew accumulation.

A sound roof. Homes need to have a sound roof that will protect the household from nature’s elements. The roof also creates a major impact on the total appearance of the house. Installing one may be expensive but consider this as a major investment. Pick a color that will best fit your home style.

A well-maintained landscape. Mature trees and tall shrubs ruin the overall appeal of your exterior. Cut shrubs back and hire landscape professionals to help you trim down trees. Clearing out your current landscape will give your home a new look so clear out all existing exterior elements that to give way to a new look for your home. You can also save on water bills by considering xeriscaping. This landscaping technique makes use of plants that do need to regularly watered.

A decent walkway. If your home is old, consider remodeling its walkways. Cosmetic repairs will not only improve its aesthetics, a walkway upgrade will also ensure safety to the occupants of the home. Cement walkways are vulnerable to sinking, chipping, and cracking. You can also check out tile bargains and use slate tiles to improve the overall look of the walkway.

By keeping these tips in mind and by adding a few pretty fashion homewares, you are sure to greatly improve your home’s exterior.

Thought Of The Day

November is upon us and for many Americans there is preciously little time remaining in the year to carry out the kind of significant home renovation projects that average home owners know they need to do. The cold and wet of winter seriously limits people’s ability to address and execute renovation and improvement projects of all sorts especially those that relate to a home’s exterior (though not only those) and that means that the coming days and weeks need to be properly taken advantage of. The good news here is that with the right planning the right ideas and the right attitude it is possible to make the remaining weeks of 2010 as productive as possible.

I have to admit it was quite comical at parts. As if Lloyd Blankfien or Jamie Dimon would volunteer a billion dollars to save a competitor. While the general theme of the story is correct, I think many of those people enjoyed ripping off the “useful idiots” as they like to call them and HBO of course made them seem like decent human beings trying to do the righinvolving sociopaths, I am amazed they still don’t know one when they see one.

Not only structurally problematic, but plagued with mold and mildew. Supposedly that’s been controlled.

I’ve been thinking about a hedgerow myself. Mine would run through sun and shade. My current plant ideas are hazelnuts, currents both red & black, serviceberry aka juneberry aka saskatoon berry. Juneberrys are tasty and the ones we have at work grow ~10-12′ high.

Oh, jeez…feel like I started a fire storm and Heidi didn't tell me she was going to mention this. I was stating what I miss about Ohio: my friends, the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Art Museum and the museum itself, tons of ethnic foods, deciduous trees, snowplows (seriously), less traffic, better air quality, lakes especially Erie, cheaper property, Marc's (one guilty pleasure), and best of all: Rain. Seriously. The sound of it on the roof on one of those night's when it goes for hours. Very comforting.

I draw women mostly because of how creative they can be. Not saying men cannot, but the varying looks and designs for women interest me a lot more. They are versatile, have a lot more options and really fun to draw, in any which way really! It is a way I can show my appreciation and I am working to make sure I can do them more justice…one step at a time.

Hmm. It seems to me that that slip of the tongue was just a knee jerk reaction. I think the real issue is being forgotten. The issue is that GK has deviated from its original mission. Simple as that. GK was supposed to be just a means to spread the Word of God. A means to evangelize. A means to give concrete meaning to one's Christian life as well as to bring others into the Christian life. Unfortunately, CFC GK has forgotten its original mission. It has gotten too big, and frankly, too full of itself. The only thing being advocated by Frank and CFC FFL is that the original charism be restored. This original charism which states that the goal of the CFC is to improve one's faith and help to spread it. The original charism which is fulfilled through the 7 pillars … of which GK is ONE of them. It's actually quite incredible that when GK is trying to raise money, it discourages any mention of CFC. That is incredible. Incredibly sad. That is akin to being ashamed of your parents, and your Catholicism. CFC GK has also recently been accepting donations from just anybody just to raise funds. That's like buying something you really like but ignoring the fact that it is a stolen good. Unfortunately, these past few months have shed a bad light on CFC GK due to the shady and backhanded missteps of its leaders. CFC GK has ignored the bishops. It has, in some places, kept its members in the dark about the current situation. Furthermore, it has ignored calls of reconciliation. Padilla is suggesting 2 branches of CFC, which is logical and correct. Why would you separate “Kawang Gawa” (GK) from spiritual self development (FFL)? It just does not make any sense. Plus, Padilla's suggestion is a huge concession already because he is willing to accept GK as being a CFC branch which does not follow CFC's real mission. He is even encouraging members to simply choose which group they would like to be a part of. The hard truth is, it's all about pride, the pride of CFC GK's leaders. They have become too big, too “sikat”, too arrogant, and now prone to corporate and government influence. They have set an impossible goal which Padilla foresaw years ago as being too lofty. I think many of you are seeing just the exterior. Look within. Read between the lines. This mess isn't simply an issue of money. Far from it. Money is not the core issue. GK was born out of CFC. Created by CFC. Before GK suddenly became the dominant pillar at the expense of the other pillars, CFC of which FFL members were a part of was pumping money into it so that it's lofty goal might be realized. The Original CFC (which is actually FFL because it is doing CFC's original mission) pumped in millions into GK at the expense of its other activities which equally promote spiritual dvelopment. But never has Padilla complained about GK sucking up CFC funds before this whole issue exploded. That's superficial. All he and members of the FFL want is for CFC to return to doing what it originally set out to do. Please do not accuse Padilla of trying to gain the bishop's favor by stating that the reason for the split is GK's deviation from CFC's original mission. That's just ignorant, and is an extremely conevenient spin in order make Padilla and FFL look bad and make it seem like they have ulterior motives tied to something as petty as money.

Congrats! Major elbow grease + flair for decorating = Gorgeous! You really did give new life to that floor..I am sure it thanks you for being dug up and revived. Paint color looks cozy, and rather different from one angle to another.

Didn't know YumYum was a Maine Coon. We saw a program that featured the breed and thought of YumYum. Maybe she doesn't like the feel of gritty litter on her tender feet.
